Sessions last for 50 minutes or 1 hr 20 mins. Sessions are either weekly or bi-weekly. I have a limited number of reduced rates for those on a low income.
Fees should be paid in cash or cheque on the day of the session and phone or computer sessions need to be prepaid. At the end of your first session, if we have agreed to work together to achieve desired goals and objectives*, a full-session deposit will be required against the event of a late cancellation or no-show, and will be credited as your final payment if neither occurs.
Once in a while when a client is going through a crisis or a particularly difficult patch I will offer extra support by phone/e-mail. If it is only 5 or 10 minutes and infrequent, there is no charge, but anything in addition will be prorated and billed at the next session.
It is usual for the full fee to be charged for missed/cancelled sessions if 24 hours notice is not given. I ask clients to try to give me at least three days notice as there is usually a waiting list and people need advanced notice to arrange their schedules.
Sometimes within the process of psychotherapy painful or negative feelings can arise, but this is normal. For this reason it is highly recommended that if a client wishes to stop therapy, rather then just not come anymore, they have a final debriefing session.
I adhere to the BACP guidelines (please see About Nikki) and confidentiality is guaranteed.
Referrals;
Alongside self-referrals from clients, I accept referrals from doctors and other professionals. Potential clients will be offered an assessment as soon as possible.
* Please note it's very important that clients have an interest in thinking about themselves and desire to change, this requires hard work. Guided bibliotherapy (reading) is recommended to increase awareness during our work together.
